Jamaica was colonized by Spain in 1494, seized by Britain in 1655 and achieved independence in 1962. But Negril, located on the western tip of the island country, was made famous by the hippies and flower children who came here in the early 70's. It's exotic and far from any care in the world. The hippies still come to enjoy Seven-Mile Beach, but now they're business people, doctors and lawyers (...gotta hide that hippie inside?). They don't seem to be disappointed. Negril boasts one of the highest levels of repeat tourism in the Caribbean. Oh, and by the way, even though there's no sign showing where Karen is, we know it's Negril because of where she sent it from (but we promised not to tell!).
